The Building Journey

Designing your dream home or space is a deeply personal journey — and we’re with you every step of the way. Whether you're starting from scratch or building on an existing concept, SDG helps you uncover what matters most and brings it to life with intentional craftsmanship and creativity.

Step 1: The First Meeting

Our process begins with a discovery session. We sit down to understand your goals, lifestyle, inspirations, and must-haves. Bring your sketches, photos, Pinterest boards — anything that helps us see your vision. We'll show you past builds and walk through product options that align with your unique style.

Step 2: Home Site & Plan Selection

Once we understand your vision, we help you choose a home site and floor plan that fits your lot and layout preferences. The land determines the plan — not the other way around. We'll guide you through our floor plan options or help design a custom one that maximizes light, space, and flow on your chosen lot.

Step 3: Purchase Agreement

With a final plan and specifications in hand, we’ll draw up a detailed Purchase Agreement — either a fixed price or cost-plus contract. This agreement includes the design, selections, allowances, and scope of work, setting the foundation for your build to begin.

Step 4: Design Selections & Pre-Construction

Here’s where your personal touch shines. You'll work with our team to select everything from cabinetry to flooring, lighting to paint colors. Once selections are finalized and the paperwork is complete, we move into the exciting phase — construction.

Step 5: Pre-Construction Meeting

Before we break ground, you’ll meet with your Superintendent and Selection Coordinator to walk through the plan one last time, confirm any final tweaks, and ask any questions. This is your moment to feel confident and excited about what's ahead.

From here, you'll receive weekly updates and schedule milestone meetings and walkthroughs with our team. We keep communication clear, proactive, and personal.

Step 6: Construction Phase

During the build, you'll have private login access to our online portal where you can track progress, see photo updates, and stay informed every step of the way. We bring transparency and peace of mind to the construction experience.

Design Discovery: Questions to Consider

To help us create a home that truly reflects you, consider the following:

• Architectural Style: Modern, traditional, farmhouse, craftsman — what inspires you?
• Exterior Finish: Do you envision brick, stucco, stone, or a custom blend?
• Roofing Preference: Metal, composition shingles, flat or pitched?
