THE HOME BUILDING PROCESS

SDG’s main concerns include quality, price, style, and finishing touches within the home. We work to bring our clients the latest trends and stylish, fresh architecture, staying abreast the home building trends and construction products throughout the United States. To exceed the expectations of each buyer, our staff is knowledgeable in the ever changing needs of the Tennessee home buyer, creating a unique look for each home.

Building Process

There are so many details that go into designing a new home so it suits your family and your personal tastes. SDG Signature Designs Group LLC will help you determine what is most important to you in the home of your dreams, whether you are starting from scratch or buying a home under construction.

First Meeting

The first step is to meet reviewing your needs and desires in your new home. If you are building from the ground up, bring photos, drawings or anything you can think of for the SDG team to get to know you. We will show you examples of the homes we have built and representation of each product line we build.

Home Selection

The next step is to select your home site and floor plan. A floor plan is best selected or designed once the home site is chosen. Choosing a location in which you want to build your new custom home is one of the most important aspects of the process. We will need to see the orientation of the home site to determine the type of house that will fit and what will be the best way to lay it out to maximize your space and view. Searching for floor plan is next whether you can purchase from floor plan website or choose one of our stock floor plan.

Contract Signing

Step three is to sign a Purchase Agreement whether it be a fixed price or cost plus contract. A Purchase Agreement can be signed upon receiving a completed set of plans that are bid, a detailed set of specifications and allowances if applicable. From that point forward, we will continue the pre-construction process.

Design Selection and Pre-Construction Process

After signing the Purchase Agreement, you will begin your design selection process. As soon as your selections are completed along with other items in the pre-construction process, SDG will begin construction on your new home.

Pre-Construction Meeting

Upon completion of your selections and the pre-construction period, we will set up a pre-construction meeting at our office for you, your Superintendent and Selection Coordinator. This is the best opportunity to ask questions and review any last minute non-structural changes that need to be made.

You will then receive weekly updates from us and a series of meetings and walk-throughs with your builder or superintendent.

Construction

During construction, you may sign up and login on our website to view a complete checklist of your home's progress. This progress page will be updated regularly and is equipped with pictures for your convenience.
